Throughout history imperialism ruled for many centuries how ever later on WW2 the collapse of imperialism started. The granting immunity that followed would result in both decreed and negative effects for the people of those nations. Two imperialized nations that achieved independence from atomic number 63 after WW2 were Algeria and Kenya. Under British control Kenya was dominated by European settlers who held control of the fertile highlands of central Kenya. The Kikuyu a local anaesthetic African ethnic group regarded this region as their homeland. The Europeans indeed banned all Africans from owning land. This discrimination started sparks between them and increased nationalism with the Kenyans. During the postwar period leader Jomo Kenyatta came from Great Britain to help fighting for independence. By this time nationalistic feeling in Kenya were strong. The Kenya African Union was formed to help get independence and its professorship was Kenyatta. Also during this time some Kenyans formed an underground freedom movement called the Mau Mau. It sought to unite Kenyans against British rule. It carried attacks on European settlers and so British government took action against the movement in the 1950s. The British authorities jailed thousands of nationalists including Kenyatta.

The uprising had been crushed by 1956 but calls for freedom s cashbox continued. Kenya finally gained independence in 1963. Kenyas first president Kenyatta and he held office from 1964 till 1978. A positive effect from Kenyas independence was that it had a free market economy and became a popular degree for tourists and international businesses. Algeria did not gain independence from the french easily, contrary Morocco and Tunisia. Algerian freedom came only after one of the more or less costly wars in African Colonial history. In Algeria French settlers called colons which had been coming to Algeria since the 1830s.
