The Chimney Sweeper The speaker of this poem starts off telling the earshot that he was sold to work as a chimney sweep at a truly young senesce after his mother dies. The plausible meanings for the coffin in Toms dream could have been death or plane the sweepers actual lives.

Meaning it could have been the boys in the dark, cold, unclosed chimneys ( nonliteralally a coffin) cleaning. The angel then lets them out into a gorgeous world where they are free of burden. The sweeper children then go bathe in the river and become naked and white(Blake 16) because they are now clean. There is a literal and metaphoric meaning to the beginning of these stanzas.
