Ana Castillo is a Latina poet, essayist, and novelist. She was born and brocaded in Chicago , Illinois on June 15, 1953 to two chicano parents named Raymond and Rawuel Rocha Castillo.
Ana Catillo attended and calibrated from Northeastern Illinois University and the University of Chicago and earned her bachelors in art. During this time Castillo had a son named Marcel Ramon Herrera. After this, Castillo felt to better her career for her and her son so she went back to school. She received her masters in Latin American and Carribean studies and minored in secondary education.
After graduating she went to determine English as a second language. She also taught Mexican and Mexican American history in community colleges passim Chicago where she grew up. She taught feminist journal writing for several age and became a feminist activist herself.
Castillo is a women suffrage writer. more of her short stories, novels, and poems revolve almost the idea of women changing society. The Guardians, I Ask the Impossible, and Women Are Not Roses all revolve around this theme. But the poem that has spoken to many women in the U.S is Women Dont Riot. This specific poem speaks about all the harm women stir put in throughout American history.
How they throw away spent many hours in maquilas, sweat shops, cooking, and cleaning and shed never once complained. How women no matter how rich or poor they are they never complain about not having certain needs to take care of the many children or the household they must obtain. Women Dont Riot speaks for women world(a) not matter what the race be who have been beaten, raped, and harassed. It stands up for those who created all of the womens civil rights movement, that have dragged signs across the rural area for us, and for those women who dont have a say so in things or who dont even have the education and knowledge to know what is going on in society.
