As the book opens, and the adventures first unfold, Huck lived mainly in the shadows of his father and tom Sawyer. Throughout the whole book, Huck tried to escape his father, expert as almost everything he did, he thought of how turkey cock would have done better. On the adventures, Huck gradually developed. He had seen and been through several life-changing experiences. Living on the island, surviving on the raft, being in the feud surrounded by the two families, seeing the things the Duke and the Dauphin did, and et cetera. All of these things pack to directher; any one could completely change a persons view of life. At first Huck did the same thing to Jim that Tom did to him. He became inpatient and mocked if he lost an argument. As time went by, he learned to respect and trust Jim, for they only had each other to depend on.
