LeRoi Joness Dutchman was written in the 1960s and the story took amaze on a subway train. It involves two main characters Lula, a thirty-year old Caucasian woman and body, an intellectual African American man in his twentys. Dutchman is a symbolic reading of the whirl and eve story and in which Clay is kill by the schizophrenic, insane, and seductress woman, Lula. Lula represents Eve and Clay represents Adam. The story consists of many symbols which round a role in the night club of racial issues.
Clay is a twenty-year old college educated, African American male who represents Adam in the story. He compromises with his identity by adopting the values of the oppressing society in order to avoid the negative and violent relationships with his face cloth oppressors. He is rarely confrontational with Lula; he takes a more than passive approach.
